SUMMARY:OZC at the 2025 VARAC Vintage Grand Prix Lapping Day
DESCRIPTION:Every year as part of the annual VARAC Vintage Grand Prix weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park\, VARAC runs a lapping/test day on the Thursday of the event. \nAnd every year\, a handful of Z cars from OZC join them! \nBy far it is the best “bang for your buck” on the Grand Prix Track at CTMP\, with this year’s fee staying at only $400 for the day. \nThis is not an aggressive track day – it’s a well organized\, well run\, good people kind of event.  Only one group is available for street cars (so the diversity of cars is vast) – but everyone who has attended in the past has expressed what great value it is\, and what a fantastic day they had with lots of run time. \nBonus is that you’ll get to see all the race cars up close and personal that will be racing at the VARAC Vintage Grand Prix that weekend. \nTo register\, access the event website listed in the details below; for more information you can contact event organizer Colleen Samila (varacvgp@gmail.com) or for an OZC member’s perspective you can contact Glenn Walker at glenn.walker@bell.net

DESCRIPTION:We can’t wait to see what Traditional Motors Company has done to their shop.  We toured this location last year and loved it.  We found out that they expanded and we can’t wait to go back! \nOZC Member Lino Baggio has kindly offered to take us on another tour of this amazing consignment shop – cars\, motorcycles\, art… you name it.   Check out their online gallery! \nThe tour of the shop is planned for Saturday May 24 in Fergus\, Ontario. We are meeting for lunch at 11:30am at the Goofie Newfie\, where we received excellent service and delicious food last year.  We are limited to two tables of 10\,  please reach out to Eric Zondervan to register (by Friday the 23rd at noon) and get all the details! \nThere isn’t a specific driving tour planned for after the tour\, but if it’s a nice day and a few of us are interested\, we can do a “pop up” tour after visiting Traditional.

DESCRIPTION:OZC’s spring swap meet is back at Florida Garage Ltd. this year! \nFlorida Garage has become the go-to shop for Datsun/Nissan owners – stocking parts and offering regular maintenance in addition to complete engine and transmission rebuilds\, carburetor tuning and rebuilding and so much more.  Check out the glowing online google reviews of their work and service. \nIn the back room\, you’ll recognize the master mechanic Tony Silvaggio who has tons of experience with Datsun engines (previously of Whitehead Performance). \nReserve a display table and bring all your parts.  There’s no table reservation charge for 2025 OZC club members; the cost is $15.00 a table for non-members and interested vendors.   The deadline for reserving a table is April 24.  (Hey – if you’re not a member\, why don’t you become an annual OZC member for $45 and get your table for free! \nIf you are bringing a trailer or selling from the trunk of your car – there will be space available in the parking lot – just call ahead and let us know you’ll be coming and how much space you need. \nQuestions\, Table Reservations and Payments can be emailed to info@ontariozcar.com \nWe’re looking forward to seeing you at this typically best attended event of the year (outside of Z-Fest of course!)

We will meet at 7:30pm at the college and the tour will take approximately an hour to an hour and a half to complete.   If you’re going to Watts for dinner first\, please ensure you give yourself sufficient time for your meal – some of us will be there by 6pm. \nThe Centennial College Automotive Campus is located at 75 Ashtonbee Rd. at Hakimi Ave.  At the lights\, proceed under the building and follow the driveway to the parking. \nComplimentary parking passes have been arranged for the first 11 people who email Nigel (nigelwhite1971@gmail.com) in advance. We may be able to arrange for more\, but I will need to hear from you asap! \nOtherwise\, there is free street parking on the north side of Ashtonbee\, east of Warden\, 1 block away.\nIt is not recommended to park across the street in the mall parking lot\, since their security can ticket you\, as has happened in the past with students. \nPlease email Nigel (nigelwhite1971@gmail.com) in advance if you plan to attend. \n
